Retention Guarantee

The retention guarantee represents the funds retained and deducted from the amounts paid to the contractor. The purpose is to provide an additional guarantee to the project owner (i.e. where the contractor does not execute the project, the owner uses these funds for completing the work). The project owner deducts an amount from the value of each approved progress payment submitted by the contractor. Such progress payment represents the value of the executed part of the work. This guarantee is released and handed over to the contractor at a time agreed upon which may be at the final acceptance or at the expiration of the guarantee period. The retention guarantee may be issued conditionally like the advance payment guarantee* i.e., enters into force only after receipt of its amount of the contractor.

Payment Guarantee (Letter of Indemnity in Case of Non-Payment)

The payment guarantee serves as a security for the beneficiary should the principal not meet his payment obligations on a timely basis. It is not stipulated to be a certain percentage of the amount of a contract. Its purpose is to guarantee the payment of a commercial operation or a provision of certain services in an amount agreed upon by the two parties of the contract.


Shipping Guarantee (Letter of Indemnity)

This type of guarantee is in favor of shipping agents in connection with goods shipped by sea and arrive at the port of destination without the covering shipping ********s received by the bank under a letter of credit or ********ary collection.
